First "real" food

Okay, so I'm going to be honest and admit that this wasn't actually her first real taste of food.  I let her lick my spoon at Red Mango (natural yogurt) and let her lick the ice cream off the spoon at EZ's once.  Neither of those REALLY counted as eating, but in the interest of full, honest disclosure I thought I should just get them out there on the table.  Can you tell this is the third baby?  Last time I would have NEVER done anything that wasn't expressly permitted/recommended by the American Association of Pediatrics, and this time I rarely, if ever pick up the baby books.

Uncle Andrew and Aunt Holly are here for a visit, and today we were all hanging out in the living room with Mimi and Popo, so I thought "Now's a good a time as any..." so I went and made her a little bowl of rice cereal....and put the bumbo on the coffee table. (Again, a "third kid" thing to do.)  We made sure everyone was watching, and lined up all the requisite items.  Bowl and spoon?  Check.  Camera? Check.  Box of baby wipes?  Check.  Bib?  Check.  (who cares that it was a Halloween bib, right?)  Drumstick, bottle of pink nail polish and one lone sock?  Double check!!  (What is all that stuff doing on the table, anyway??)

I'm not sure exactly how much food she actually ingested, but she didn't hate it.  That's a start I guess.  Understandably, she has no idea what is going on, so she kept sticking her tongue out and pushing out all the food, so the bib was put to the test.  By the end of this first attempt, she was actually opening her mouth when she saw the spoon coming, so I call that a success!  Now did we REALLY think this girl wasn't going to like her food?? :)
